Keep clinical boundaries explicit
Do not position the assistant as a doctor or use it to diagnose, prescribe or make clinical decisions. If a message contains urgent symptoms, clinical interpretation or sensitive questions, direct the user to the appropriate human or emergency pathway defined by the healthcare provider.
Privacy by design
Collect only the minimum information needed for the administrative workflow. Review what data is stored, who can access it, retention rules and the security requirements that apply to the provider’s jurisdiction and systems.
Appointment routing
The assistant can help a patient express the type of appointment needed and preferred time, then move the request into an enabled booking or human scheduling workflow. Avoid implying a confirmed clinical appointment until the relevant system has actually confirmed it.
Knowledge quality matters
Clinic hours, service availability, physician schedules and preparation instructions can change. Assign an owner who reviews healthcare knowledge frequently and remove outdated information immediately.
